Bible Prep: 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Today, let's consider God's faithfulness and the answered prayers of those who have gone before us as we unify in prayer for the 2024 Presidential election.
George Washington's Prayer for the Nation - June 8, 1783
"Almighty GOD, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection, that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States of America at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of The Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen"
Did George Washington's prayer cease when he died in 1799? Not at all; even today, we still see his prayers coming to fruition in God's perfect time. President Washington was a man of prayer, so much so that he carried a prayer journal to record his daily prayers. Be blessed as you read through a few of his journal entries...https://www.cbn.com/.../Interce.../washington_prayer.aspx...
God's protection for George Washington was evident. God heard the prayers of the saints over their leader. Below is the story of how George Washington became known as "Bulletproof." It could only be God's hand of protection that saved him from death. I can't help but wonder how many prayers were being lifted for him during that time.

I often wonder who prayed for President George Washington. Did he have a prayer team "standing in the gap?" How many daily prayers were lifted on his behalf that are coming to fruition today? According to Romans 8:26, the Spirit directs us in how and what to pray for and intercedes on our behalf. It leaves me speechless to think that the prayers prayed over 225 years ago still impact our nation today.
"Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings, and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence." 1 Timothy 2:1-2
A Wake-Up call to all of us is to pray on bended knees for the 2024 Presidential Election. The office of the President is the highest, most powerful position in the United States. God calls us to pray and stand in the gap for the person to holds this position. Pray for the integrity of this election. Ask God to open hearts and eyes to the person of His choice.
On a Personal Note, keep in mind that AI will play a significant role in the campaigns ahead—so much so that all of us must discern between the truth and deception. Just because it looks like a candidate is saying something doesn't mean they did. We must remember and seek out the candidate's policies, historical records, leadership qualities, and business management skills. Most importantly, ask yourself if the candidate has a heart of prayer like George Washington, which, in turn, will impact future generations for years to come. Pray for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. I absolutely love Romans 8:26...
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."
Dear Father God,"
Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your Spirit, who continually helps us overcome our weaknesses. We confess that all things are possible through You, and nothing is possible without You. Open our hearts and intercede with the Father so that we may humble ourselves in Your presence. We thank You for Your forgiveness. Strengthen us to live with purpose and empower us to serve You. Together, we ask that You oversee the 2024 Presidential Election. Pour out Your will and move hearts in Your direction. Give every voter discernment, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding according to Your Word. Thank You, Lord God, George Washington, and his example to all of us when he ended his prayer, "Grant our supplication, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen"
Food for Thought: The world witnessed another "Bulletproof" miracle on July 13, 2024. Presidential candidate Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt, and just like George Washington, it was by Divine Intervention that he turned his head at the perfect time. Hence, the bullet pierced just the top of his ear. Immediately, Trump acknowledged that it was only through divine intervention that he was saved. I wonder just how many have been praying for him? We all have the privilege to pray for others and those in leadership positions. May we all heed the call to "stand in the gap" for the 2024 Presidential Election.
